Wilma Joyce Houle

Wilma Joyce Houle,89, died May 1, 2024, at Columbine Manor Nursing Home. 

She was born Sept 5, 1934, in Bonham, Texas to Tom and Hattie Fairchild. Joyce had resided in Salida, Colorado since 1963. 

Joyce enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting, playing bridge, baking, and spending time with her family. She was employed at H&R Block as a Tax Preparer for over 25 years. 

Mrs. Houle was preceded in death by her parents; husband Virgil F. Houle, sisters Jean and Helen, brother JT; and children Butch Houle and Vesta Houle Williamson. 

Joyce is survived by children, Charles (Karen) Koontz, Jackie (Ken) Berndt, Vicki Koontz, Alan (Linda) Houle; grandchildren Carl Gene Koontz,  Abbie (Dave) Reaksecker, Richard (Michelle) Berndt, Kendra (Seth) Berndt, Dara (Billy) Bernhardt, Cassandra Pierce, Virgil (Cassie) Norris, Andrea Norris,  Virgil (Lisa) Houle and Dorothy Houle; brother Ronnie (Nancy) Fairchild; and numerous great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. 

Services will be held at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home on Friday, May 10, 2024, at 11 am with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery. A gathering for remembrance at the Poncha Hall will be held afterwards. 

In lieu of flowers, friends may donate to the Alzheimer’s Association or charity of their choice.
