Vincenzo Gaetano “Vince”/ “Jimmy” Longo, 97, died February 28, 2020 in Florence Colorado. He was born October 2, 1922 to Luigi and Maria (Scolari) Longo. He played high school football for Trade High School, Springfield MA and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Jimmy worked as a custodian for Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, Springfield MA for 27 years during the 1950’s, thru 1970’s and Loch Raven United Methodist Church, Baltimore, MD. He also worked as a machinist for Westinghouse, and Phelon’s in Springfield, MA and Hamilton Standard of Windsor Locks, CT.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Angelica (Pepe) Longo whom he married on October 6, 1945 in Springfield, MA. as well as a daughter, Laura Longo (William Cooper) of Cotopaxi, CO and a son James Longo (Barbara Lange) of Hobe Sound, FL., and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Longo was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Antonio “Tony” Longo, Francesco “Frank” Longo, and Salvatore “Sam” Longo and sisters, Rose Natle, Delores Malatak, Theresa Siniscalchi, Josephine Siniscalchi and Saveria Oliverio.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 5th, 2020 at 10:30 am in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 320 E 5th St, Salida, CO 81201. Interment will follow at 1 pm in the San Isabel View Cemetery, Hillside, CO.
