Teresa Marie Giorno, 90, of Salida, CO, passed away on November 9, 2025 in Salida, CO surrounded by her loving family.
Teresa was born on August 9, 1935, in San Vincenzo La Costa, Gesuiti, Italy, the eldest of nine children. In July of 1956, she came to the United States and made her home in Salida, living with her Aunt Rose Gentile on 2nd Street and working at the local laundromat.
In 1957, Teresa returned to Italy to marry, Gildo Giorno. Together they settled in Salida and raised four boys and two girls. Family was everything to Teresa, and she devoted her life to caring for them and creating a warm, welcoming home filled with love and laughter.
Teresa was happiest in her kitchen. She loved cooking, baking, and gardening, and was especially passionate about making homemade pasta, gnocchi, Italian bread, fry bread, and Christmas cookies. She made sure everyone who visited was well fed and felt at home.
She loved working over the years. She was well known in Salida as the “Best Italian Cook.” Employment included Anden’s Café, Furphy’s and Samara Inn. She finished her working career as a housekeeper at Columbine Manor for 10 years.
Her friends and family describe her as “cute,” caring, tiny, kind, giving, genuine, strong, and full of love. She had a special fondness for all her doctors, especially “Dr. Amy” Beauprez.
Teresa’s favorite saying, which captured her joyful outlook on life, was “It’s a so beautiful.”
Teresa was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Gildo Giorno. Brother Mario Guccione, sisters, Sara Aragon and Edith Cicerelli.
She is survived by her children Jerry (Debbie) Giorno, Larry (Christine) Giorno, Fabio (Diahann) Giorno, Frank (Jamie) Giorno, Ida (Ken) Whiteley, and Rose (Tom) Gleason; her brother, Frank Guccione; and sisters, Lena Leeway, Maria Church and Rose Guccione. She also leaves behind sixteen grandchildren and twenty-three great- grandchildren, with one on the way.
Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
