Sonja Barbara Lofgren

Sonja’s Life

Sonja was born in Cody, Wyoming as the

fifth child of Thore and Helen (Shaffer)

Lofgren. Though her arrival was wrought

with many challenges and heartaches, she

brought light and joy to all who knew her.

Sonja moved to Aurora, Colorado with her

family where she attended Overland High

School, making many friends and many

boyfriends. Throughout her life Sonja took

care of her parents with excitement and

laughter. With her mother she enjoyed

singing, knitting hats, and coloring. With her father she enjoyed visiting Yellowstone. She loved shopping, bowling, and spending time with people. We will miss Sonja’s frequent phone call updates of what is happening on the “soaps” and her decadent dinner menu advice. 

Sonja met her parents, her sister Anita and her sister-in-law Jodee in heaven on January 10, 2025, after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

She is survived by her brothers Jacob (Sherri), John, and

Mark, her sister Audrey, and many adoring nieces, nephews,

grandnieces, and grandnephews.
