Sharon Ruth Kennedy

Sharon R. Kennedy, age 77 of Buena Vista, CO passed away on September 28, 2023 at her home in Buena Vista, CO. Mrs. Kennedy was born on August 9, 1946 in McKessport, PA to Robert T. and Eleanor (Detman) Eger. She and her family moved to Leadville, CO in 1963. Mrs. Kennedy graduated from Lake County High School and married her sweetheart, Gary Ray Kennedy after graduation. Her husband preceded her in death in 2010. They had two children, Shawn Ray Kennedy, who passed away in 1987 and Michael Kennedy who lives in Denver, CO. Mrs. Kennedy was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother Robert Eger who was killed in an accident at Climax Mine. She is survived by her son Michael Kennedy, sister Debby (Roger) Lopez of Leadville, CO and nieces and nephews Matthew Eger, Chase Eger, Jessica Coffen, Roger Lopez Jr.,Benjamin Lopez and Justin Lopez and brother Dale (Theresa) Eger of Leadville, CO. Sharon will be remembered for her open smile, her sense of humor and her ability to make people laugh. She enjoyed yard work, quilting and baking. Mrs. Kennedy had many jobs in the area but enjoyed her job at the Gunsmoke Travel Plaza the most and enjoyed working with her fellow teammates. “I hope you dance” was her wish for everyone. Funeral Services are set for 11:00 AM Friday October 6, 2023 at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home with interment to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Buena Vista, CO.
