Sally Gillespie Obituary

Sally J Gillespie of Howard, Colorado, died April 30, 2021. She was born February 16, 1941 in Englewood, Colorado to Howard and Zelma Lindsay. She was raised in Peetz, Colorado. She was married to Bob Gillespie on Memorial Day, 1958 in Howard, Colorado. Together they resided and raised their family in the community. She was a loving and devoted mother of three sons and beloved grandmother to many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is remembered by family and friends for her love of music and God-given talent to sing and play the piano. Sally sang and played piano in her community for many many years, taught music at Cotopaxi High School and the Howard/Coaldale community, which she so dearly loved, has been richly blessed by her beautiful gift. Sally may also be remembered for her 34 years of dedicated employment to Dr V Michael Barkett in Salida, Colorado. Sally and her husband spent many vacations camping with their sons and family in Saguache Park. Most of all, she loved family picnics and hosting many holiday & Sunday family dinners in their home. Sally also loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was influenced by her Grandma Sarah’s commitment to the Lord throughout her childhood and accepted Him as her personal Savior in 1958. She is preceded in death by one brother, two sisters and a grandson. Survivors include her husband Bob Gillespie of Howard, Colorado; sons Russ (Rayann) Gillespie, Mark (Carla) Gillespie and Don (Tara) Gillespie; as well as many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. In loving memory of Sally, a private memorial picnic will be held by family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in honor of Sally and her family can be made to Howard Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 154, Howard, CO 81233.
