It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rudy Henry Martinez on October 16, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family.
Rudy was born on August 25, 1953, in Gilman, Colorado, to Bernice and Joe Martinez. He grew up with three siblings: Cathy (Fred) Gonzales, Raymond (Barbara) Martinez, and Nancy (Ron) Martinez.
Rudy built his life and raised his family in Salida, Colorado, where he worked hard to provide for those he loved. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, an experience that shaped his strong character, discipline, and sense of duty.
Throughout his career, Rudy worked with Miles Construction and ACA products, where he operated heavy equipment with skill and dedication. His strong work ethic and pride in doing a job right earned him the respect and admiration of his coworkers and friends.
After retirement, Rudy never slowed down. He was always ready to lend a helping hand- whether it was shoveling snow, helping someone move, or cleaning out a home. He was the kind of man who showed up without being asked, always putting others before himself.
Rudy enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He loved fishing, hunting, and making his daily rounds through town to visit with friends at local businesses. One of his most cherished routines was visiting his mother every morning to start her day- a testament to his love, loyalty, and devotion to family.
Rudy’s greatest pride was his family. He and Brenda were blessed with four children- Readon (Felix), Joseph Martinez (Marcie Contreras), Katrina Martinez (Joseph Gilbert), and the late Justin Martinez. He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren: Alexis DuChesne, Rae West, Jonah DuChesne, Samuel Tafoya, Jessica Clinton, Skyler Raby, and Starrla Raby, and a great- grandfather to Marceline West, whose presence completed his circle of love.
Rudy is survived by his beloved mother, three children, seven grandchildren, and one great- grandchild, as well as two sisters, one brother, three sisters-in- law, and many nieces and nephews who will forever cherish his memory.
He is preceded in death by his father Joe, his beloved wife Brenda, and his son Justin.
Rudy’s warmth, generosity, and sense of humor will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
