Longtime Salida resident Rudolph Frutoso Vigil, 93, passed away on September 4, 2023. He was born on September 7, 1929, in Salida, Colorado to Don and Beatrice (Gallegos) Vigil. Rudolph married Dorothy L. Martinez on March 30, 1963, in Salida, Colorado. Rudolph was a loving husband, and a caring father. He loved hunting and fishing, and spending time with his family. Rudolph was a hard-working man, he spent 33 years working in the Climax mine and at the same time, raising five children alongside his wife Dorothy. He retired from the mine in 1985. He was a member of the Los Amigos and of St. Joesph Catholic Church. Rudolph is survived by his children, Henry (Jackie) Vigil of McMinnville, Oregon, Dennis Pello of Salida, Colorado, John (Lorraine) Pello of Arvada, Colorado, Josephine Murray (Don) of Brighton, Colorado, Michell Carothers (Nolan) of Wheatridge, Colorado, fourteen grandchildren, twenty-seven grandchildren and one great- great grandchild as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Dorothy Vigil and his siblings Ernest (Bertha) Vigil, Ben (Clara) Vigil, Patsy (Toby) Trujillo, Virginia Reninger, Cleo Lucero, Helen (Joe) Marques, Cordi Salazar, Albert Vigil and Andrea Vigil. Recitation of the Holy Rosary is set for 10:30 AM on Friday September 15, 2023, with Mass of the Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salida.
