Richard Rowlands Obituary

Richard A. Rowlands, 78, died on Saturday, September 11th, 2021 in Buena Vista with his brother and sister-in-law by his side.

He was born in Kingston Township outside of Wilkes-Barre, PA. His family moved to Kansas City, KS where he graduated Rosedale High School in 1960.

Richard also joined the Navy in 1960 and was honorably discharged in 1963.

Richard worked for Buena Vista Correctional Complex until disability forced him to retire.

His family said he was a kind, loving and gentle soul.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David A. and Gwen C. (Herbert) Rowlands.

Richard is survived by his two children Rhonda (Mike) Morgan-Scott of Salem, OR and Richard (Lucy) Hoernlein of Tracy, CA; 3 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother David (Janet) Rowlands of Lenexa, KS; many nieces and nephews; and so many loving friends.

The family wishes to thank all of the hospice staff involved in Richard’s care.
