Former resident of Salida and Leadville Colorado, Reva June Parks passed away on November 11, 2023.
Known to many as June-Bug and fondly as M.J. (Mama June)
She was born on October 19, 1938 in Tucumcari, New Mexico to George Pogan and Alison Murphy.
She was raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico where she met Stuart Parks and was married in April 1961. They then moved to Fort Collins, Colorado and in May 1963 was blessed with a son, Larry. Later they moved to Leadville, Colorado and in April 1970 they welcomed a daughter, Tamara, to their lives.
June worked at St. Vincent’s Hospital, in Leadville, for many years in the billing department. Once retired, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and working in her yard. In 2007, she moved to Salida to be with her son and family. She bought a home on J Street and loved working in her yard and going for walks and having coffee with her neighbors. In Salida, she became a volunteer at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center and became a member of the Auxiliary. She enjoyed helping others around her and became a volunteer for a short period of time at Columbine Nursing home.
In January of 2012 she became a great grandmother and loved every moment.
Preceding in her death was her husband Stuart, Father, Mother and step Mother Mildred (Millie).
Survivors include:
Son, Larry (Evalyn) Parks of Salida, CO. Daughter, Tamara Posner of Santa Monica, CA. Grandson, Jon Bollig of Cheyenne WY. Granddaughter, Nancy (Marcus) Compton of Salida, CO and two great grandsons, Markus and Alexander.
Brother Jerry (Renee) Pogan of Albuquerque, NM.
Sisters: Janis (Brian) Wilson, Littleton, CO. Rhonda Reymann of Friendswood, TX. MaryKay (Ronald) King of Oak Island,NC.
Two step brothers: Bob (Pat) Astor Castle of Shannon, PA and James (Pat) Astor of Red Lion, PA.
Numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
June requested no services. In memory of June please plant a flower in your yard. She loved her flowers and watching the birds from her deck in the spring and summer. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
