OBITUIARY FOR PHILLIP [PHIL] DELUCA Phillip (Phil) R. DeLuca passed away on April 21, 2024. He was preceded in death by his caring wife, Marguerite (Maggie) G. DeLuca. He is survived by four children: David (Kelly) DeLuca, Deb (Ken) DeLuca-Forzley, Diane (Kirk) Ellis, Donna (Greg) DeLuca-Otte. He is also survived by seven Grandchildren: Matthew, Justin, Abbey, Andrew (Drew), Elise, Jonathan, and Kendal. In addition, he is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Mike and Maria DeLuca, brother Anthony (AJ) DeLuca and sisters Elizabeth Clementi, Edith Catalano, and Julia Mae Antista. Phil graduated from Pleasant View High School, Pueblo College, and the University of Denver with a degree in Business Administration. He served in the United States Army for two years. He was employed by the Colorado State Hospital as an accountant and following that was employed with the Buena Vista Correctional Facility as an accountant and Business Manager/Associate Warden. He then worked as Legislative Liaison and Budget Director with the Colorado Department of Corrections, until he returned to the Buena Vista Correctional Facility as Program Director. He retired in May of 1990. He served on the Board of Directors of Sangre de Cristo Electric Association from 1997 – 2016. He was very active in his faith community and church as well as participating on several community boards. A cremation was held. Celebration of Life will be on May 16, 2024, at 7:30 pm, and the Funeral Mass on May 17, 2024, at 3:00 pm at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Buena Vista. After the graveside service there will be a light lunch in the church hall. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or St. Rose of Lima Church.
