Otis Joseph Slone

Otis Joseph Slone, age 70, of Buena Vista Colorado passed away on December 27th, 2023, in Salida, Colorado. “Joe”, has lived in Buena Vista, Co for 46 years. He was born on May 4th, 1953, in Pueblo, Co to Elizabeth Viola Chacon and Otis Slone. He attended multiple schools in the San Luis Valley, finishing at Custer County High School. 

Joe was employed as an equipment operator at Asarco Mines in Leadville Colorado for 22 years. He later became self-employed where he drove trucks and was a heavy equipment operator. He resided with Terri Bashton in their home in Buena Vista, Colorado since 2011. Mr. Slone enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his years and during retirement he enjoyed working on their farm in Monte Vista, Colorado. 

Mr. Slone was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Viola Chacon, and his father, Otis Slone. Joe is survived by his three children, Jessica Olson 48, Jeremy Slone 44 (Angela), and Jodi Kamplain 43 (Josh). He is also survived by his Sisters Phyllis Gonzales, Nancy Cain, and brother Christopher Cain as well as his grandchildren Veronica Sheley, Mackenzie Kenner, Ryleigh Slone, Chance Slone, Zoie Kamplain, Maggie and Hattie Dunn, and Aggie Edberg, and 1 great grandson Kayden Sheley.

Services for Joe will be held at a later date in Redwing, Co.  Announcements will be made at that time.
