Nicholas Melvin Putman of Denver Colorado, passed away on February 7, 2025 surrounded by his children.
Nick was born in Denver Colorado on June 241943 to Donald Putman and Vivian (Lull) Putman.
Nick graduated from Englewood High School in 1961 and then attended UNC for a short time. He went on to follow in his dad’s footsteps as a Drywall contractor.
He met and then married Retha Trujillo (Putman) in 1965. It was known that the two of them could tear up a dance floor like no other. The two welcomed Melaine (Putman) Cotton, and Kent Putman into this world while they were married. Nick absolutely loved the outdoors while he was growing up which brought him to Buena Vista, Colorado where he lived for over 10 years. He loved looking at Mt. Princeton which was his favorite view. His love for fishing was shared with his children and later with his grandchildren. He could tie a fly like nobody’s business and shared the technique while having a huge smile on his face. Nick was always one to dress to the tee and the hat that he wore was somewhat of an expected treat to see. He always had a special glow upon his face when he was around his children and grandchildren as they meant the world to him. He never missed birthdays and loved to share his favorite books with gifts of literature. Nick’s love for music was unfathomable and on any given day you could walk into his home and hear the record player going and find him sitting in his chair, big smile on his face, listening contently with a cold beverage. Nick will be missed more than words can explain.
Those remaining to cherish Nick’s memory are: daughter, Melaine Cotton (Putman), Paul Ficco (son-in-law), son, Kent Putman, Christine Putman (daughter-in-law), his grandchildren: Ashlie Cotton, Tanner Cotton, Brittney Cotton (Tanner’s wife), Brieana Pratchett, Bryce Pratchett, Kent Putman Jr., and great grandchildren: Julian Gray, Rowan Nicholas, and Ellie Sue. Also, his brother Jeff Putman, and sisters, Jan Putman, Jodie Putman Berdiales, and Julie Putman Lindsay.
Service will be at Lewis and Glen Funeral Home on Friday February 14, 2025 at 2pm. A reception will follow at the VFW in Buena Vista Colorado.
