Kathy Norman Obituary

Kathy Norman, 77 of Buena Vista, Colorado, passed away May 20, 2026, after a very short battle with cancer. Kathy was born in St. Charles, Illinois September 24, 1948. She came to Colorado in 1968 and started her law enforcement career in Jefferson County in 1970.. She married Randy Gordanier August 1970. She worked in law enforcement until 1975 when they started a family.

 

In 1982, they divorced and Kathy and her children moved to Buena Vista, where she started at Buena Vista Police Department.  She married Dennis Norman in 1991 and retired from the police department in 1994. She then came out of retirement in 1996 and worked for Buena Vista Sanitation until she retired from there in 2007. She was a great Mama and the BEST GRAMS!

 

She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers; Gary, Paul and Tim, and one grandson; Paris Byrd.

 

She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years; Dennis of the home, children; Guy Gordanier of Anchorage, AK, Kristen (James) Schooley of Greenville, SC, Jamie (Ken) Smith of Buena Vista, CO, Brianne Baker of Buena Vista, CO. Along with two step sons; Derek Norman of Buena Vista, CO and Chris (Leslie) Norman of Aurora, CO. Along with 15 grandkids, 3 great grandkids and many nieces and nephews.

 

Services will be held on June 5th, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home in Salida and burial at Mount Olivet in Buena Vista and a reception to follow at the home, 101 Stoney Run, Buena Vista
