Kathy Marie Caynor (Henderson), age 73 of Salida, passed away on September 25, 2025, at the Colorado Springs Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Salida on April 2, 1952, to Kenneth Rex (Bud) Henderson and Leona Mary Abote.
Kathy graduated as the valedictorian from Salida High School in 1970 and attended college. Soon after she married David Lancaster and they had a son Zacharia. Years later she married Charlie Caynor and had a daughter Tara. For a few years she lived in Leadville as a homemaker taking care of Zach, Isaac, and Tara.
Most of her life, Kathy worked for Marlyn Swift and wore many hats. From magazine distribution to merchandise ordering, from store manager to bookkeeper, she was Swift's right hand.
Living her whole life in the mountains , Kathy loved the outdoors. Whether it was camping , picnicking, rock hounding, or just hiking around, she loved to be outside. She was a huge Broncos fan, rarely missing a game. She also watched Avalanche hockey and loved going to games. Also, she had a fondness for music and attended many concerts throughout her life.
Her final thirty years were spent in her hometown with her devoted Randy by her side and her kids and grandkids close by. She will be missed dearly.
Kathy is survived by her husband Randy Busse, in laws Brian, Yolanda, and Busse family: children Zach Lancaster and Tara Caynor. Stepchildren: Isaac Caynor, Nic Busse, Julia Crane. Brother Mike Henderson (Patty) and sister Vicki Koenig (Pat) and nephew Jesse (Lauren)Koenig. Nephew Rick Henderson and great niece Chelsea Henderson. Niece Heather Block (Dustin) Grandchildren: Dante, Vera, David, King and Jack. She had many other family members, nieces , nephews, and friends that she considered family.
She is preceded in death by her parents Leona and Bud Henderson, ex-husband Charlie Caynor, stepchildren Erin Caynor and Tracy Busse, and her nephew Brandon Henderson.
There will be a memorial service, a celebration of her life, to be announced at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered on behalf of the family toward the arrangement costs through Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home or direct contributions to her favorite organization, Mountain Shadows Animal Hospital, here in Salida.
