John Ordaz Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of John Macedonio Ordaz, born on December 29, 1941, and peacefully departed from us on March 7, 2024. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, John's lively spirit and legacy will live on through the numerous lives he touched. John is survived by his devoted wife Joanna Aragon Ordaz, his daughter Jamie Giorno, son-in-law Frank Giorno, and his beloved siblings Sylvia Luna and Dave (Cindy) Ordaz. A doting grandfather to his dear grandchildren: Meagan Meinke, Jessie Giorno, Mariah Ordaz, Justin (Shana) Giorno, and Gianna (Eden) Giorno. John leaves behind 6 great grandchildren, Ashlynn, Caroline, Cade, Olivia, Kynzlee, and Oaklyn. He was preceded in death by his father and mother Joe and Bernie Ordaz, father and mother-in-law Adelaido and Clara Aragon, and his son Chris Ordaz. Having graduated high school from Salida High School in 1959, John enlisted in the Air Force and proudly served his country. He was stationed in Germany, Tripoli, and Africa. He found true love with Joanna and they shared vows on June 20, 1964. In 1966, he began a rewarding career with the United States Postal Service from where he retired after 30 years in 1996. He served on Salida City Council from 1984 to 1986. After retirement, he golfed weekly with a tight group of friends and devoted his time to his grandchildren and later, his great grandchildren. Papa John was a constant source of laughter and adventures! Known by his friends as a hard-working man, John enjoyed the simplicity of life. Be it sipping on his favorite domestic beer, homemade Italian wine, or spending time on the golf course, he truly relished in the essence of life. He was actively involved in the lives of his 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and found immense pleasure in providing support and love to all of them. His friendly, caring, outgoing, supportive and hard-working nature was loved by all. John taught us all how to love unconditionally. His greatest accomplishments include raising a loving family, connecting with his golf buddies weekly, and taking care of his grandchildren. His everyday mantra was to love and laugh each day, a lesson that will surely be continued by his loved ones. A funeral service in honor of John will be held on June 7, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St Joseph Catholic Church with burial at Fairview Cemetery to follow. His family, friends, and dog, Mollie Jane, will dearly miss him, his laughter, his wisdom, and his unwavering love and support. His memory will always stay alive through his loving family and the values he imparted
