Jo Ann Coggins Obituary

Jo Ann Coggins' friends called her Jodi. Devoted mail Carrier for 25 years and the best Nana ever. Jo Ann Coggins passed away peacefully at Columbine Care Center on Oct 25th. She was born Dec 30th, 1952 in Baraboo, WI., to Joseph and Ann Davis. Jo Ann leaves behind three brothers Bill Davis of Salida, Pat (Kathy) Davis of Buena Vista and Mike (Debbie) Davis of Nathrop. Jo Ann grew up in Lawrence, Kansas and graduated from High School in 1969. After high school, Jo Ann was inducted into the United States Navy and was stationed in Norfolk Va. While stationed at Norfolk Naval station, Jo Ann met her previous husband Randy Coggins and from this union two children were born. The military provided the family with opportunities to live all over the country including overseas where they lived in Rota, Spain for two years. Jo Ann moved to Chaffee County in 1990 where soon after she started working for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier in Nathrop. Jo Ann was a dedicated carrier for twenty five years until retiring in 2018. She will be remembered for having a kind and generous heart, and being a loving sister, mother and grandmother. Jo Ann enjoyed spending time at the family cabin in St. Elmo, snowmobiling, four wheeling, and barbequing. Jo Ann was also an avid reader of western and native american history. She will be greatly missed. Jo Ann is survived by her daughter Branda (Ronald) Tafoya of Grand Junction; son Bryce (Jenni) Coggins and granddaughter Leia Coggins of Buena Vista.
