Jean McCormac Obituary

Jeanie Marie McCormac, or “Neenee” to her grandkids, passed-away peacefully August 29, 2021 at her home in Swissvale, CO.  Jeanie was born in Missouri in 1957.  She was blessed with two sets of parents, James and Evelyn Epp of Salida, CO and Mabel Luckenbaugh of York, PA and Clarence Morris, who preceded her in death.

Jeanie met her husband Mick McCormac in 1985, and they shared a wonderful life together for 36 years. It would take a lifetime to remember all the happy moments that were shared between Jeanie and Mick, especially when they were “Dancing in the Dark.”

Jeanie was a beloved member of her community where she worked as an accountant and was a friend to all she met.  She was a devoted mother, wife and grandmother whose joy for the outdoors and her family were evident by the light and strength that she brought to her family’s lives.  She never gave up. No matter what, she was always determined.  When anyone else would have broken, Neenee stayed strong with thoughts of seeing her children and grandchildren.  She taught everyone around her the meaning of perseverance, optimism and personal strength.

We will always love and honor the words that Jeanie would say.  To her children, she would say, “Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens, promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance and when you get the choice to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance.” To her grandchildren, she would say, “I love you to the moon and back and I love you in my heart”. Never forget how much you are loved.

Survivors include the love of her life, Mick McCormac; her brother, John Martin (Linda) Epp of Salida; son, Justin (Cassie) Watts of Salida; son, Brennon (Jennie) Watts of Pueblo West; daughter, Tracy (Ray) Zahary of Greeley; son, Derek (Alyssa) McCormac of Pueblo; grandchildren Kaylee Watts and Brady Watts of Pueblo West, Billy Watts and Dani Watts of John’s Island, S.C., Brooklyn McCormac of Pueblo, and Natasha Zahary of Greeley.
