Jane Surber Obituary

“I am lucky to have live the life of my dreams”, Jane Surber died Nov. 21st, 2024, peacefully home in Salida. She was born Jan. 19, 1935, in Port St. Joe, FL. to Wilber Wells and Inez (Williams)

A courteous young Jane alerted her father of submarines visiting her on the beach. This discovery forced Jane and her family West. In doing so she met her soulmate, and married July 31, 1955. Along with creating a miniature horse ranch, Bud and Jane raised 11 children and fostered over 80 kids in need

“Thanks to all the kids. I’m so proud”.

Jane was one of the first women to raft the Arkansas, always brave and up for an adventure. She shined as a receptionist for Dr. Rush truly developing her unmistakable wit. Later she found her passion for animals, a love pure and kind. Jane decided to become a 4-H leader and forever advocator.

Survived by 9 children Terri, Keith, Gayle, Patti, Kevin, Danielle, Leonard, Allen, and Mario. As well as over 66 grand, great grand, and great great grandchildren.

Proceeded by her husband Bud, parents Wilber and Inez, daughter Gina, son Scott, and granddaughter KayCee.

Jane had a heart of gold, keeping you on your toes or laughing. Her ability to tell a story was captivating, so at the age of 86, she published a book.

Jane was a beautiful firecracker with a razor-sharp sense of humor. The wizard of wee couldn’t sit still. You’d find her crafting, playing cards, puzzles, driving her gator, eating tacos to Family Feud, or getting doll’s up at the salon.

“There’s Always Room for One More.”
