Ivy Lorraine (Bozarth) Green, 90, passed peacefully at Columbine Manor in Salida, CO on November 24, 2023, with family at her side. Ivy Lorraine was born May 23, 1933, to Darwin Lorraine Bozarth and Mary Mahalia Ivy in Warrensburg, Missouri.
The family moved to Wichita, Kansas when she was a child and remained there until April 1946 when they relocated to Lee’s Summit, Missouri. She graduated from Lee’s Summit High School in 1951 and it was there she met the love of her life, Clifford (Pete) Green. She attended the University of Missouri and was an avid Tiger booster. She and Pete were married on June 12, 1953, and had one child, Pat. They were married 52 years until Pete passed away on December 03, 2005.
Ivy Lorraine worked for the Western Electric Co. and the Gas Service Co. in Lee’s Summit, Mo. prior to entering the floor covering business with her husband owning Four Way Linoleum & Tile. They moved to Colorado in 1976 and opened Salida Floor Covering in Salida, Co. She could also be found at the Buena Vista Chamber of Commerce, where she was a volunteer and later an employee for 14 years. She thoroughly enjoyed meeting people and spending time with her Chamber friends, Judy, Kathy and Billie. She also spent many summers working at the St. Elmo General Store.
She and Pete lived their dream of living in the mountains by a stream, residing in the townsite of Alpine at Green’s Bit O’ Heaven. They moved to Buena Vista, CO in 2002 due to health concerns for Pete.
Lorraine was active in the Buena Vista High School Booster Club for many years and loved watching sports games and being around the kids. She and Pete could be found at most sporting events, especially when it involved their grandkids. When her health would not allow her to attend the games any longer, she faithfully listened to the radio broadcasts. She remained a loyal Demon supporter till the end, keeping a Buena Vista Demon poster on her door.
If you ever had the pleasure of spending time with Ivy Lorraine, you would know how much her family and friends meant to her, especially her grandkids and great grandkids. Someone once said, “I probably know more about her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids than they know about themselves.”
She was a member of the Lee’s Summit R.L.D.S. congregation and also attended the Congregational Church of Christ in Buena Vista.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete and her nephew, Jason Muehlebach.
She is survived by her son Pat (Tina) Green, grandson Bryan Green, granddaughter Alisa (KC) Sparrow, great-granddaughter Kendall Sparrow and great- grandson Dekker Sparrow, all of Buena Vista, sister Darlene (Robert) Craig of Gridley, CA, brother-in-law Bob (Donna) Muehlebach of Alpine, CO and 3 nephews, 2 nieces, 2 great-nephews and a great-niece, along with very special friends, Mike (Vicki) Bird and the Brummett/Coday families of Missouri.
A springtime service will be planned for family and friends and her ashes will be interred with her husband. On line condolences may be sent to the family at lewisandglenn.com. Arrangements are with Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.
With Grandma Green being such an avid Buena Vista High School athletics supporter, if you are so inclined, the family ask in lieu of flowers you make a donation in her name to the Buena Vista High School baseball program or any school program of your choosing.
