Ida Grantham Obituary

Ida Marjorie "Marge" Grantham. age 101, passed away on February 14, 2026. She was born in Mesita, Colorado on April 2,1924, to Frederick and Edna Quiller. Following graduation, she became a telephone operator for Mountain Bell in Alamosa, CO. It was there that she met her future mother-in-law, who played Cupid and introduced Marge to her son, Vern Grantham. They were married in 1948 and were "sweethearts" for 60 years; it was fitting that they were reunited on Valentine's Day. They had four children and made their home in Salida since 1966, where she was actively involved in church and community. Marge was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints, where she served in many capacities. Her strong convictions and compassion helped many in need. She volunteered with the Hospital Auxiliary in the Gift shop, where she was honored for over 2,000 hours of service. She was a sales associate at various stores downtown; Crew Beggs, Amaranth, and Gift Connection, to name a few. She had many friends and acquaintances, who looked forward to visiting with her in those settings. She was a loving grandmother who made each grandchild feel special. She was a strong, determined woman who had gone through the depression and knew the meaning of hard work. The comment was often expressed "They don't make them like her anymore."

She is survived by sons, Steve (Bonnie) Grantham of Ft. Collins; Kirk (Dr. Georgia) Grantham of Ft. Collins; daughter Pam (Rich) Young of Salida; daughter-in-law Linda Casteel of Pueblo; stepdaughter Suzan (Gary) Robins of LaJara; grandchildren, Tom (Tonia) Grantham; Dustin (Kim) Grantham; Jason (Jackie) Grantham; Julie Hess; Avery Young; Erik (Silky) Young; Kelsey (Ryan) Lawless; and several great-grandchildren.

Services will be held on Saturday, February 21st at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1140 Poncha Blvd,

The family would like to express deep gratitude to Amanda Stinnett and others of Enhabit Home Health & Hospice, Dr. Ohara, and a special thank you to Alma Graves, whose care was so tender and loving.
