Gary Lee Huffman

Gary Lee Huffman, age 88 of Salida, passed away on December 16, 2023 at Columbine Manor Care Center in Salida. Mr. Huffman was born January 11, 1935 in Eldorado, Kansas to George and Gladys (Prewitt) Huffman. Mr. Huffman married Annette Muth on September 4, 1958 in Eldorado, Kansas. The couple moved to Buena Vista Colorado in 1962 then to Salida in 1965. Mr. Huffman was a teacher for 11 years, one year in Kansas and 10 years in Buena Vista. Mr. Huffman started working as a Corrections Officer in Buena Vista in 1977 and worked there until his retirement. He was a member of the Salida Elks Lodge and served as the Exalted Ruler for 1977 to 1978 he was also a member of the 1st Baptist Church. He and his wife were avid Square Dancers. Mr. Huffman was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law Ron Prewitt. He is survived by his wife Annette Huffman of Salida, CO, daughters Julie Thiessen of Canon City, CO, Terry Prewitt of Salida, CO, 4 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
