October 25, 2023, Doretha (Dot) Marble, 90, of Salida Colorado passed away peacefully with words of love and admiration from her beloved family paving her way to heaven.
Dot was born in Winnsboro, Louisiana on August 17, 1933 to the late Grover Cleveland and Mahamalea (Nielsen) Fairchild.
Dot moved to Leadville Colorado in 1951, where she met her first husband Delbert Lacy. They married December 19, 1954, and went on to have two children; Beckie (Lacy) Bond and John Lacy. Dot married her second husband Clinton William Marble on May 10, 1974, and had three children; Lisa Marble, Kevin (Lynn) Marble, LeaEllen (Marble) Bowers.
Her time in Leadville included working at Laytons Store, Climax, as well as meat wrapping at Superfoods. Following the birth of her last child, Dot moved to Salida in 1979 where she worked in the food service industry as a waitress and short order breakfast cook. Her first job after relocating was at Salida Sweet Shop followed by the Palace restaurant. She was also known for her infamous biscuits, which she made from scratch at the Country Bounty restaurant.
In her younger years, Dot loved to golf, bowl, and dance. With age she enjoyed going to Rockies games, scratching lottery tickets or a fun day at Blackhawk playing the penny slots, as well as, spending time with her family. Dot was a dedicated mother/grandmother and home maker, and her house was a place you surely wouldn’t leave hungry.
Doretha was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings who include her four brothers, GC (Laura May) Fairchild, Loyd (Betty) Fairchild, Benny Fairchild, and Tommy (Mary) Fairchild, and her two sisters Jackie (Larry) Kern, Billie (Jerry) Bollig. Son-in-law Bryan Bond
Dot is survived by her five children. Sister Carolyn (Bill) Wilson and sister-in-law Janis Fairchild. Her grandchildren Alicia (Mike) DeLeo, Andrea Bond, Tristyn Bowers, Chris Bowers, Bryson Walker, Haylie Walker, and Camber Franklin, and her great granddaughter Adalis DeLeo. Step grandchildren Cody Levering, Robert Levering, Amber Levering. Numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home, November 10th, 2023 @ 2:00 pm.
A reception will follow at Poncha Springs Town Hall.
