Denny was a good man who made a life he was proud of. Born in Chenoa, Illinois, Denny retired from UPS at the ripe young age of 46 and made his way to Westcliffe, Colorado, where he enjoyed many good years on mountain time.
A skilled woodworker, Denny dedicated countless hours to turning August Menzel’s old blacksmith shop into his home. Once he could call that done, he set his mind to new projects-like building two teardrop trailers and electrifying a 1968 Volkswagen bug. He looked forward to visits from family and friends, bowling, yard-sitting, and enjoying a little whiskey with his cigar. Denny loved his wife, Karen, his animals, and a good donut-when he could get one.
Though Parkinson’s took much from him in his later years, it never took his determination or spirit. Now free from its grip, we take comfort knowing he is back to doing all the things he loved.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Cheers to you, Denny-they don’t make them like you anymore.
