David Kent Heeke

David K. Heeke, age 63, of Haysville, Kansas, formally of Salida, passed away on February 14, 2020. He was born September 18, 1956 in Pratt, Kansas to Donna McCollum and was later adopted by Arnold and Mildred Heeke. He spent his early childhood in Cunningham Kansas and often spoke of his fond memories as a child there. They moved to Salida when he was 10 years old. He graduated from Salida High School in 1974. He was a member of the Salida High School Marching Band, Jazz Band and Concert Band all four years he attended. He loved music and would often spend time listening to the Eagles with his daughter Devyn and sing fun songs with his daughter Michelle. He enjoyed spending time in the Mountains, especially snowmobiling with his grandkids. He loved the Kansas City Chiefs and especially loved watching the games with his children and grandchildren. David loved the holidays and spent several weeks every year decorating for Christmas. He also loved bicycling and would often ride for miles every day. He worked for the Department of Corrections in Buena Vista for many years and he and his previous wife, Toni, started and ran Anna Marie’s Personal Care Home in Salida. He enjoyed taking care of people and spent many years of his life also working as a CNA for the Salida Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Rod Huckriede, wife Toni Heeke. He is survived by his daughters Devyn (Sean Cribari) Kindall, Michelle (Tom) Moon both of Salida, grandchildren Creed Moon, Dylan Blades, Easton Moon and Payson Moon all of Salida, CO. Sister Cheryl McCollum of Wichita, KS and brother Mark Huckriede of Hutchinson, KS. Private family services will be held.
