Cordi E. Salazar

Cordi E. Salazar, 92, of Salida died on November 7, 2019 in Canon City. She was born on August 13, 1927 in Calcite, CO to Don and Beatrice (Gallegos) Vigil.

She married Joe Salazar on February 9, 1946 in Taos, NM.

For 17 years, Mrs. Salazar was employed as a bookkeeper for Koenig Texaco. She retired in 1986.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Salida for 60 years and spent her time doing ministry work. She did Spanish Bible study in her home and loved the Lord with all of her heart. 

Mrs. Salazar volunteered at the Pregnancy Center for many years. She loved to pick pinon nuts and tend to her flowers.

She will be deeply missed by her family.

Mrs. Salazar was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers Ben Vigil and Albert Vigil; sisters Helen Marquez, Cleo Lucero, Patricia Trujillo, Virginia Reininger and Andrea Vigil.

Survivors include her son Jim (Connie) Salazar of Salida; daughters JoAnn (Milton) Myers of Salida, Judy Tanner of Salida and Elizabeth Gonzales of Grand Junction; eleven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday November 14, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Grace Church in Salida with a reception following immediately after the service. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 PM at Fairview Cemetery.
