Clara LaRue Obituary
Clara Belle LaRue went home to be with her Lord and Savior June 9th, 2018 while surrounded by friends and family.
Clara was born in Great Bend Kansas on December 21, 1922 to Francis and Mary VeNard. She grew up in Macomb, Illinois. On June 13, 1942 She married Howard H. LaRue. They lived in Macomb, Illinois and then they moved to Arizona in 1949 where Howard started his career in the National Park Service. As his career advanced she packed up and went with him to Organ Pipe National Monument, Grand Canyon, Jackson Hole and Philadelphia. During this time she did a lot of entertaining park service, crafts, travel, keeping the home front going and raising 3 children.
In 1980 they retired and built a home in Coaldale Co. They had many many friends there and worked on public projects. They were faithful members of the Cotopaxi Church and enjoyed many happy times there.
In 1992 they moved to Salida. During that time Clara spent a lot of time caring for Howard during his illness and being with and encouraging her family. They joined First Baptist Church (now Grace Church). They formed many wonderful friendships there.
Clara was predecesed by husband Howard, daughter Mary Davenport, granddaughter Clara June LaRue, brother Virgil VeNard, sister Georgie Ann and many other beloved family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter Frances Vance, son James D (Marilyn) LaRue II, brother James (Marilyn) VeNard. Grandchildren Stacey(David) Vlasick, James Davenport, Glenn Davenport, Brian (Wendy) Evans, Benjamin (Ana)Evans, Joseph (Erin) Evans, James D (Deane) LaRue III, and Sheth LaRue. Clara had 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held on June 30, 2018 at Grace Church 1320 D St. Salida at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers a memorial gift may be sent to her beloved Grace Church. On line condolences may be sent to the family at lewisandglenn.com. Arrangements are with Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.
