Arlen D. Carothers

Arlen D. Carothers, age 83 of Salida, passed away on November 18, 2018 in Denver, Colorado. Mrs. Carothers was bornAugust 4, 1935 in Salida, CO to Hollis and Iverne (Haus) Heister. Mrs. Carothers loved music. She played in many bands and had her own, Gypsy Wind Band for many years. She enjoyed performing for the residents of Columbine Manor Care Center. She even performed four songs for Tommy Dorsey. Many will remember her as a very accomplished pianist and for the music she wrote. She also enjoyed bowling, spending time with her family and she loved animals. She was very witty and always had a joke. Her family always appreciated her loyalty and dedication to them. Mrs. Carothers was proceded in death by her parents, brother Chico Heister and sister Lynn “Ticky” Bell. She is survived by her husband of 65 years Calvin Carothers of Salida, CO, sons Nolan (Michell) Carothers of Thornton, CO, Marlon (Kelly) Carothers of Ft. Lupton, CO and Scott (Rita) Carothers of Thornton, CO. Daughter Cristy Carothers of Poncha Springs, CO, twin sister Readon Magnuson of Salida, CO, 7 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Funeral Services are set for 11:00 AM Tuesday November 27, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
