Albert L. Dilley, 83, of Salida, Colorado passed away at his home on May 14th. Al was born in Denver, CO on August 16, 1936 to Theodore and Ethel (Coleman) Dilley. He learned to set tile at an early age and continued in that profession for 50 years. He moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1964 and established himself as one of the best setters in New Mexico, widely sought after for his custom designs and exceptional craftsmanship. Al met Randi, his wife of 51 years, in Albuquerque where they resided before retiring to Salida in 2001. Al loved the outdoors, baseball, Nascar, and rodeo. In 1952 he placed first riding bareback horses in the first sanctioned Little Britches Rodeo in Littleton, Colorado. His rodeo career continued for a few years, mainly riding bulls. Al loved to recount memories of riding at the National Western Stock Show. Hunting and fly-fishing were the two outdoor activities he enjoyed the most, especially with his sons Jim and Josh and son-in-law Larry. He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 sisters, and 3 brothers. Survivors include Randi and 5 children: Sherry (Larry) Foote of NM, Jim (Anita) Dilley of NM, Carrie (Scott) Hoffman, Shelly (Steve) Criqui of KS, and Josh (Cristy) Dilley of CO, sixteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Additional survivors include brother Sam (Linda) Dilley of CO, sister Charlie (Kenney) Hall of CO and many nieces and nephews. On line condolences may be sent to the family at lewisandglenn.com.
