Michael J Kitson, 90, of Salida died at home on February 21, 2018. He was born in the Bronx, New York, March 10, 1927 to Patrick and Nellie Kitson (both Irish Immigrants).

He was a public servant for 40 years.  Family was always Michael’s priority in life.  He was a WWII veteran.  He was married to his wife Elaine in 1957 for 46 years.  In 1975 he moved his family to Colorado.

Michael never put himself before others.  He ran several charities, was an avid volunteer, and devoted endless hours to his children’s endeavors.

Michael was a member of Chapter 17 Disabled American Veterans and a 4th Degree Knight of The Knights of Columbus Council #6442.

He loved to travel.  He crossed the United States four times pulling a camper trailer with his family of 4.  They visited every state not missing a museum, national park, battlefield, historical site, or amusement park.  His favorite past time was spending time with and tracking the adventures of his only grandchild, Sage.

He was preceded in death by his wife Elaine.

He is survived by his son Ray (Penny) Kitson, his daughter Linda Kitson, his granddaughter Sage Kitson, his brother Jack (Betty) Kitson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at the Boathouse Cantina, from 2-6 PM. In lieu of flowers and cards, if you wish, you can donate to your favorite charity in Michael’s name. Arrangements were with Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home in Salida. Dear Ray & Penny,
We are saddened to learn of the passing of your dad, Ray. Reading his life's joys and passions, his dedication to family, tells us he passed those qualities on to you. And being a grandparent had to be one of his most treasured roles. Know that we are thinking of the Kitson Family and send our thoughts and prayers as you celebrate his life.
Sincerely,
Joyce & Lon Garrison
