Jerry Lee Kaspar, 73 of Salida, died Friday February 2, 2018 at the Denver Hospice Inpatient Care Center in Denver after a short battle with lung cancer. Jerry was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hiking, camping and snowmobiling. He was a general class HAM radio operator and took pleasure in talking to friends around the world. He was a member of the Chaffee County Search and Rescue for over 20 years, and a skilled craftsman who made home-made knives.

He was born April 4, 1944 in Trenton, New Jersey to Carl and Evelyn (Ginther) Kaspar.

He was preceded in death by his mother Evelyn Kirkpatrick, his father Carl Kaspar and his sister Sharon Cox.

He is survived by his wife Janice Kaspar of Salida, brother Kirk Kirkpatrick of Aurora, CO, sister Ebeny Revelle of Springfield, MO: son Todd (Doreen) Howell of Port Orford, Oregon, daughter Leanna (Dustin) Coonfield of Troutman, North Carolina and daughter Kim (Jason) Kaspar of Aurora, Colorado and one grandchild (Kason Kaspar-Cordova).

A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday February 8th, 2018 at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home. Online condolences may be offered at In lieu of flowers donations in his name can be made to the Chaffee County South Search and Rescue. A reception will be held immediately following the services at Ganzella Hall located at 450 Palmer Street, Salida, CO 81201.

my thoughts go out to his family. worked with Jerry at the dealership for a few years. he taught me a lot and was a lot of fun to work with. he was always real sweet to my daughters too.

talked to jerry many times over the years and had some good discussions bout outdoor stuff. sad to hear of the news. he will be missed . from his ham radio friend in Okanagan falls bc canada
