Winston “Tony” Watkins Jr., 76, of Salida, passed away on August 17th, 2018 at Kindred Hospital in Denver after battling number of illnesses.
Tony was born in Eunice, New Mexico to Winston and Marjorie Watkins on April 6th, 1942. He played college football at Texas Tech and graduated with a Masters in Education. He was married to Brenda Kay Gregory from 1961-2001. He later remarried to Tatyana Asoyan of Salida in 2012. He worked as a teacher at Pueblo South High and in Yakutat, Alaska for many years. He was a volunteer at Salida Hospice after the death of his wife and mother. He was an avid fisherman and spent many years fishing in Alaska, Belize and Salida.
Tony is preceded in death by his father, Winston Watkins Sr.; mother, Ada Marjorie Watkins; brother, Tommy Watkins; wife, Brenda Kay Watkins; and daughter, Michelle Watkins.
He is survived by his wife, Tatyana Asoyan; daughter Kimberly Walker; and many friends and family.
Celebration of life services will be held at 12:00 PM Monday August 27th, 2018 at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home with the Pastor Chuck Surface of The Upper Room Church of God officiating. A reception will follow at Granzella Hall 450 Palmer St. in Salida. Arrangements were with Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home in Salida.
