Sophee Alexandra Argys, 92, of Salida died June 18, 2019, at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center in Salida.
She was born Aug. 25, 1926, in Fall River, Massachusetts, to Peter and Demetra Mulopolous.
She grew up and spent most of her youth in McGill, Nevada, where she graduated from high school in 1945.
She earned an associate degree as an administrative assistant in Reno, Nevada, and worked for Kennecot Copper Corp. in McGill as an office manager.
After moving to Salida, she married John G. Argys in 1948.
While in Salida, she worked for the Colorado State Employment Office.
She later quit working to raise her family, then worked as an administrative assistant for the Salida city clerk, retiring in 1987.
Mrs. Argys enjoyed bowling and snowmobiling and was active as a Cub Scout leader and with the Longfellow Elementary School Parent Teacher Association.
She also loved cooking for her family and was a master of Greek cuisine.
Mrs. Argys lived with her sister Ellen in Salida until her death.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sister Katherine.
Survivors include her sister Ellen Royce of Salida; sons, Bill (Joanna) Argys of Pueblo, Gus (CJ) Argys of Salida and Greg (Joan) Argys of Westminster; grandchildren, Chad (Charisa) Argys of Nathrop, Gusti Argys (Dean Phillips) of Salida and Niki (Jesse) Cannon of Denver; six great-grandsons; and three great-granddaughters.
Her funeral services will be at 11 a.m. June 24, 2019, at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home in Salida.
Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery
A reception will follow at Salida Elks Lodge No. 808.
