Michael T. Bush Sr., 70, of Nathrop died May 25, 2018, at his home with his wife, Linda, by his side.
He was born March 29, 1948, in Burbank, Calif.
He served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division. After being drafted in August 1967, he went to Vietnam from February 1968 to March 1969. He told his family his service was very important to him.
After returning to California and working various jobs, he decided to go to Colorado to investigate a land purchase ad he had seen. The land promoted wasn’t what he had hoped for, but he stayed and settled in Dillon in the early 1970s.
Mr. Bush worked at Climax Mine for five years and at City Market.
He met and married Linda Walker in 1994 in Dillon.
In 1998 they moved to Gleneden Beach, Ore., where Mr. Bush worked at the Newport Walmart for more than a decade.
After visiting Summit, Park and Chaffee counties in 2009, the Bushes decided to return to Colorado and settled in Nathrop. He transfered to the Salida Walmart and enjoyed the many customers he visited with daily.
Mr. Bush was passionate about all kinds of natural beauty, from the oceans to the mountains. He loved learning about and working on cars. He researched and educated himself on all types of real estate.
His family said he was a strong, loving husband and father. They said many will miss his easy smile and kindness.
Survivors include his wife; children, Joni Walker, Michael Bush Jr. and Jason Walker; sisters, Elizabeth Labichello and Margaret Hogarth; and grandchildren.
