Lloyd Wilkins Obituary

Former Salida resident Lloyd “Sawdust” Wilkins, 92, died Nov. 13, 2018, at his daughter’s home.

He was born July 2, 1926, in Salida to Frank “Babe” and Alberta Wilkins.

He served in World War II from 1944 to 1946 as a member of the U.S. Air Force.

Mr. Wilkins was a logger by trade and owned Wilkins Sawmill in Salida.

He was also a member of the Elks Lodge.

Mr. Wilkins had a passion for hunting and fishing. He liked spending time with his great-grandson Braden fishing at Pueblo Reservoir.

He enjoyed weekly family barbecues.

Mr. Wilkins also enjoyed going to birthday parties for his great-grandsons Noah and Braden to eat wings and birthday cake.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois Wadsworth; second wife, Sandy Wilkins; and brother, Floyd Wilkins.

Survivors include his daughters, Sharon (Randy) Sinclair of Pueblo and Linda Cowan of Salida; sons, Larry (Brenda) Wilkins and Gary Wilkins, both of Salida; stepdaughters, Renee (Rob) Constable of Pueblo and Rayann (Russ) Gillespie of Coaldale; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 11 a.m. Nov. 30, 2018, at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home in Salida.
