Kathleen Jamieson Obituary

Kathleen Francis Jamieson (Ferraro), 63, passed away, June 11, 2019 in Sun City, AZ, after a struggle with numerous medical illnesses.

Kathy was born July 13, 1955, in Salida, Colo. to Robert and Jane Ferraro.

She grew up in Salida, attending St. Joseph Catholic school and graduating Salida High in 1973. She went to Parks School of Business, Denver, Colo and obtained a certification as a Medical Transcriptionist. Later in her career, she received a degree in Psychology in Pueblo, Colo. and studied medical billing in Phoenix, AZ. and became proficient in all.

Kathy married Dave Jamieson in 1983 in the intensive care unit at St. Mary Corwin Hospital in Pueblo, Colo., making national TV news!! The week before the scheduled wedding, Kathy was in a serious car accident so she and Dave went ahead with the wedding as planned with a slight change of location!

Kathy and Dave settled in Kansas where Dave was track master for two railroads and Kathy worked in the medical field. When Dave began a career with Federal Railroad Administration in 1989 they relocated to Washington, DC and were moved to several different cities during his 20 years with federal government. Everywhere they went Kathy enjoyed employment at medical clinics in reception, medical transcription, and billing departments and made new friends wherever they went. When Dave retired in 2008, they moved to Sun City,AZ ,where Kathy continued to work as a Medical receptionist for several years, until a disabling fall during her weekly swimming activity.

Over the years, Kathy suffered many medical conditions, but just like their wedding--that didn’t deter Kathy and Dave from enjoying travel in the US and several times to Europe, Mexico, and cruising to Alaska and the Panama Canal .

When disability didn’t allow for travel or work, Kathy became a regular at Bingo and Bunco games and occasional trips to the casino where she like winning at bingo. Her dog became a special consolation to her during her extreme disabled periods, as Dave worked tirelessly to accommodate her disabilities.

Kathy maintained strong faith and exceptional courage throughout her long history of physical problems and stays in many in hospitals.
