Helen E. Glenn, 95, of Salida, died Saturday April 14, 2018 at Columbine Manor Care Center in Salida.
She was born January 7, 1923 in Scott City, Kansas to Samuel Frederick and Myrtle E. Cole.
Mrs. Glenn was united in marriage to Charles C. Glenn on February 17, 1952 in Raton, New Mexico.
She was from a pioneer family and was raised in farm country from Kansas to the Western slope of Colorado. She lived through the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl days in Kansas and Eastern Colorado, working on the farms and in the fields along side her siblings. When meal time came during the harvest she would cook the meals with her mother for the “threshing” crews. After settling in Salida in 1952, her entire life was centered around her family. Her greatest joy was being with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles C. Glenn, siblings Albert Cole, Ben Cole, Carl Cole, Ray Cole, Leona Jenks, Delores Munson and Shirley Sullivan.
Helen is survived by her children Donald L. (Nancy) Glenn of Elizabeth, CO, Charles C. (Andrea) Glenn II of Annapolis, MD and Timothy R. (Lisa) Glenn of Salida, brother Junior Cole of Rifle, CO, sisters Nora Gean Aslin of Colorado Springs and Georgia Wright of Colorado Springs; Grandchildren Erik L. (Shelby) Glenn of Parker, CO, Aaron L. Glenn of Annapolis, MD, Thomas J. (Meg) Glenn of Denver, Kyle R. Glenn of Annapolis, MD, Kail J. (Tracy) Glenn of Salida and Ashley R. (Zack) Cooper of Salida; Great grandchildren Colton Cooper of Salida, Theodore Glenn of Parker, CO and Weston Cooper of Salida. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday April 18, 2018 at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
