Frank McMurry, 78, passed away on Janurary 1, 2018 at his home in Nathrop, Colorado, with his family. Frank was born on February 3, 1939 in Salida, Colorado to Glen and Margret McMurry.
Frank was raised on the family ranch in Nathrop, he attend Gas Creek School House until the 8th grade and graduated from Buena Vista High School in 1957. Frank attend Colorado State University for 2 years prior to enlisting in the Air Force from 1959-1963. Frank began his long career as a rancher when he returned from his service, married Connie in 1965 and had three children.
Frank spent years giving his service as a Volunteer Fireman in Chaffee County, Buena Vista School District School Board Member and President, Upper Arkansas Water Conservancy District Board, Farm Bureau, Arkansas Headwaters Recreational Board, Chaffee County Fair Board, Chaffee County Soil Conservation Board, Chaffee County Agricultural Stabilization Board, Farmer’s Home Administration, 4-H Leader, Lifetime member of the Chaffee County Cattleman’s Association and Chaffee County Commissioner. Frank loved his family, ranching and his community.
Frank is survived by wife, Connie; sons Ken (Jen) McMurry, Brett (Cheryl) McMurry; daughter Taf McMurry; granddaughters Scout, Molly, Megan McMurry, Kayla (Chris) Schleicher; sisters Peg (Joe) Scanga, Alice (Gary) Hill and his adoring lap dog, Scooter.
Services will be Sunday, January 7, 2018 at the Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Pavillion at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Frank’s memory to the Chaffee County 4-H Council c/o PO Box 43, Nathrop CO 81236
