Evelyn Faye Epp, 94, of Salida passed away on November 21, 2018 at Columbine Manor.

Evelyn was born June 13, 1924 in Barnard, Kansas and was the daughter of Clyde John and Viola Gertrude (Swank) Rogers.

As a young child, she moved to Wyoming in 1926, where her parents homesteaded north of Douglas, Wyoming. In 1929 the family relocated to their ranch near Orin Junction, Wyoming. Evelyn graduated from Douglas High School, Douglas, Wyoming in 1942.

Evelyn married James Edgar Epp on July 22, 1945 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. They later moved to Kansas City, Kansas. During the mid 1960’s Evelyn went to work for H & R Block in downtown Kansas City. She was instrumental in setting up, and managing, one of the first H & R Block offices in Kansas City.

In October 1970 the family moved to Salida, Colorado after purchasing the Monarch Motor Lodge. In 1972 Evelyn went to work for H & R Block in Salida and eventually purchased the franchise in 1973 and retired in 1996.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her two brothers, Dennis Rogers and Kenneth Rogers.

Evelyn is survived by her son, John Martin (Linda) Epp of Salida, daughter, Jean (Mick) McCormac of Swissvale; grandchildren Justin Watts of Salida, Brennon (Jennie) Watts of Pueblo West, Tracy (Rayme) Zahary of Evans, Derek (Alyssa) McCormac of Pueblo, Corinne Stasco of Denver and Madison Cassels of Denver; great-grandchildren Kaylee Watts and Brady Watts of Pueblo West, Billy Watts and Dani Watts of John’s Island, SC, Natasha Zahary of Evans and Brooklyn McCormac of Pueblo.

A Celebration Of Life for Evelyn will be held at a later date. In lieu of food and flowers, her family asks for a Random Act Of Kindness in her memory.
