Donald Joe Raper

Donald Joe Raper, 85, of Coaldale died June 20, 2019, at his home.

He was born Dec. 16, 1933, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Neley Raper and Lela Curdy Raper.

Mr. Raper retired in 1995 after 35 years of distinguished service at Tinker Air Force Base.

He was honored for his work in certification of clean rooms for the Air Force and bringing in weapons systems through the Plans & Programs Division of Tinker Air Force Base.

He was Tinker AFB plant management division chief.

Mr. Raper served in the U.S. Army Honor Guard based in San Francisco, California, during the Korean War.

He joined the Catholic Church in 2014 and was confirmed in 2017.

Mr. Raper was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Joseph’s Men’s Study of Salida.

He supported many charitable groups throughout Colorado, especially for wildlife and preservation.

He was a 30-year member and avid follower of the PGA Golf Association.

Mr. Raper was a 50-year member of the Oklahoma City Masonic Lodge before joining the Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Carrie Ann Raper and sister Jacophia Paris Barrientos.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Stacie Collier Raper; son, Tracy (Jennifer) Raper; daughters, Stephanie (Patrick) Kinser and Kristine (Eric) Cordell; grandchildren, Cade, Coley, Grant and Jake of Oklahoma City and Katelin, Amanda, Jackson and Joe, all of Dallas, Texas; sister Mary Ruth (Mike) Barnes of Ada, Oklahoma; brother-in-law, Bill (Sherry) Collier of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Carol Ann Bush; and niece Shelby of Oklahoma City.

His services will be at 11 a.m. June 26, 2019, at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church Memorial Fund.

Arrangements are with Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home in Salida.
