David Quintana Obituary

David Quintana, 61, died Oct 10th, 2018 at his home. He was born Jan 19, 1957 in Alamosa, Colo., to Joe E. Quintana Jr. and Ida (Trujillo) Quintana-Dopp.

He worked at Rio Grand Railroad, Climax Molybdenum Mine and retired from the Salida Newspaper “The Mountain Mail”, where he worked in the press room from 1985 to 2008, as a pressman.

His passion was music, whether old or new, he knew his music, artists, bands and history. You could always ask him who sings this song or who is this artist, or the band playing, and he always knew. He enjoyed attending live concerts throughout his live with his siblings and friends, traveling in and out of state to attend. Coincidentally, his first concert was to see Santana with his childhood friend Richard Salazar and his last concert to see Carlos Santana three weeks ago in Las Vegas, with his sisters Loretta McCord and Audrey (Phyllis) Montoya.

He loved to ride his bike around Salida and gathering with friends at the Park. He was usually at all live concerts at the Riverside Park. Family and friends describe him as very kind, loving and friendly who always had a smile on his face. He was also a Big Denver Broncos fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Anthony Montoya. Survivors include his brother Freddy Quirco of Colo Springs, Colo; Larry Quirco of Alamosa, Colo; Jimmy Quirco of Alamosa, Colo; Gilbert Quintana of Golden Colo; sisters, Audrey (Phyllis) Montoya of Denver, Colo; Tina Roybal of Lakewood, Colo; Donna McLearn (Jim) of Salida, Colo; Loretta McCord (John) of Sedalia, Colo. Many Aunts, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. October 18, 2018, at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home. Viewing will be Tuesday 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Wednesday 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Lewis Glenn Funeral Home. Pastor Chuck Surface will be officiating his funeral.
