Music by The Piano Brothers

Mary Jane Argys, 84, of Salida passed away with family by her side on Wednesday, June 28, 2017. She was born January 5, 1933 in Pueblo, Colorado to Marvin and Julia Pulver. She had one brother, Marvin, whom she adored.

She married Louis Gus Argys on January 24, 1953. They had three children: Michael, Julie, and Connie. She and Louie started Argys Plumbing in 1957. Mary Jane ran the office on and off throughout the years. They also owned The Jug Liquor Store, which she managed for many years.

She inherited her love of playing cards from her grandparents which she in turn passed on to her children and grandchildren. She loved playing bridge and played for many years with a variety of bridge clubs.

They owned a ranch in the San Luis Valley where they had a lot of good times with family and friends. Her easy-going, fun-loving personality as well as a great sense of humor made her home a gathering place for her children and their friends.

She loved gambling in Las Vegas, especially when Englebert Humperdinck was performing. She also enjoyed going to Cripple Creek with her dearest friend, Lois Shearer. She cherished trips to Disneyworld with her family, cheering the Broncos on, but most of all, spending time with her family.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother.

She is survived by her son, Michael (Jan) Argys; daughters Julie (Mike) Nance and Connie (Chris) Cooper; grandchildren Katie (Austin), Matthew (James), David (Caitlyn), and Megan (Drew); step-grandchild Andi (Ryan) and step-great grandchildren Tyler, Jordan, and Bryce. Sisters-in-law Alice Sturgon, Clara Pulver, and Anna Cicerelli; numerous nieces and nephews and the joy of her life for the last few years were her great granddaughters Alaura and Abella.

Dear Connie, Julie, and Michael--Please accept my deepest condolences to you and your families for the recent loss of your mother. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and her family. The cute newspaper article describes her beautifully. I remember when they moved to Salida as I got to know Marvin fairly well as he was a year ahead of me in school. I probably will not to be able to attend the funeral but my heart will be there. Again, my deepest condolences. Bill Mehos
